A poem that touched our hearts

Dear all,

I wanted to share a poem that a Hannah's Prayer sister shared that really touched Jong's and my heart. Isaac was still having problems breathing today and his oxygen saturation levels dropped a few times today. But he looked pretty good when we first arrived and we saw him smile again today. Visiting him is always a big roller coaster ride because we just really love seeing him and he is so cute but its also scary to see his condition go up and down. Jong and I seem to always come out of the visits pretty exhausted. But we are always very thankful for the little time that we are able to spend with him.

Here is the poem. Unfortunately, I don't know the author:

Death of a Child
Sorry I didn't get to stay
To laugh and run and play.

To be there by your side.
I'm sorry that I had to die.

God sent me down to be with you,
to make your loving heart anew.

To help you look up and see
Both God and little me.

Mommy, I wish I could stay.
Just like I heard you pray.

But, all the angels did cry
when they told little me goodbye.

God didn't take me 'cause He's mad.
He didn't send me to make you sad.

But to give us both a chance to be
a love so precious... don't you see?

Up here no trouble do I see
and the pretty angels sing to me.

The streets of gold is where I play
you'll come here, too, Mommy, someday.

Until the day you join me here,
I'll love you, mommy dear.

Each breeze you feel and see,
Brings love and a kiss from me.

If Tomorrow Starts Without Me...

Born: July 30, 2002 to July 17, 2004

Weight: 6lbs. 6oz. to 32lbs. Length: 21 inches. to 36 inches

If tomorrow starts without me, And I'm not there to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today, While thinking of the many things, we didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me, As much as I love you, And each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too; But when tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name, And took me by the hand, And said my place was ready, In heaven far above, And that I'd have to leave behind; All those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away, A tear fell from my eye For all my life, I'd always thought, I didn't want to die. I had so much to live for, So much left yet to do, It seemed almost impossible, That I was leaving you. I thought of all the yesterdays, The good ones and the bad, I thought of all the love we shared, And all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday, Just even for a while, I'd say good-bye and kiss you, And maybe see you smile. But then I fully realized, That this could never be, For emptiness and memories, Would take the place of me. And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow, I thought of you, and when I did, My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, From His great golden throne, He said, "This is eternity, And all I've promised you." Today your life on earth is past, But here life starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, But today will always last, And since each day's the same way, There's no longing for the past. You have been so faithful, So trusting and so true. Though there were times you did some things, You knew you shouldn't do. But you have been forgiven, And now at last you're free. So won't you come and take my hand, And share my life with me?

So when tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart, For every time you think of me, I'm right here, in your heart.

Here is a poem you might like also....although in time, by God's grace, it won't apply to Isaac. But right now as he can't talk or do all the normal baby things that he will do in time, I thought this poem says alot. I was a special needs mom for 2 years before my son passed away. I received several uplifting poems.

An Angel Is Born
author unknown

On the night that you were sick
The angels came to pray
When something started going wrong
One of them did say

"We must go get the Father
And tell Him about this.
Things are not going well.
Something is amiss."

When the Lord came and saw
All the angels crying,
He looked down from the sky above
And saw a child was dying.

An angel said, "Let's bring him Home."
The Lord said, "He will stay,
Because he has much to do
Before he comes our way."

"Besides," the Lord said and sighed,
"The parents want a son."
The angel whispered to the Lord,
"But this is not the one."

"He's not the one they longed for,
This much I know is true.
But this child will teach them much.
In time they'll see it too."

"But Father," said the angel now,
"I don't see how he can.
"This child will never walk or talk.
I do not understand."

"Watch and you shall see,"
To the angel he did say
"Though this child will speak no words
He will have much to say."

"Their parent hearts will hear his voice
And the wisdom he will share
Will teach them things about themselves
That even they were not aware."

"Though there are many peaks and valleys
On their journey just ahead
They will not despair
They'll draw their strength from him instead.

"Because of all they'll learn from him
They'll help to bridge the distance
Between the world of special needs
And try to make a difference."

The angel thought on this awhile
Then said, "This child means much.
Like the pebble in the pond,
Many lives this child will touch."

"The world needs special children,
These parents need this son."
The angel smiled and said,
"You are right, he is the one."

The angel held him upwards,
as that night arrived,
The Father reached down and touched the child,
And the son survived.

TINY ANGEL

For a brief and fleeting moment,
An angel touched the ground;
With tiny wings and halo,
And sweet, soft angel sounds.

Blessing the lives of others,
In beauty and in grace;
Those who saw her knew that God
Had kissed her tiny face.

The angel came for reasons,
We may not understand;
Her journey brief, with gifts so great,
And guided by God's hand.

For the angel left so much behind,
Left nothing here undone;
She gave herself so others live,
Just like her Father's Son.

So, rest now tiny angel,
Your work on earth is through;
In the beauty of God's perfect love,
We saw His gift in you.
