Saddened by news about another little Isaac

Dear all,

I woke up this morning to learn that an on-line bedrest buddy of mine lost her little Isaac on May 30. Her little Isaac was born at 19w4d after a difficult pregnancy. She also pPROMed and lost all of her water a little while before her Isaac was born. Please join me to pray for Amy and her family during this difficult time for them. I have also been praying for this other woman who lost her baby girl Leanna on May 11 at 23w5d after pPROMing at 19w4d. She had emailed me after reading my story online when she was on bedrest. Please pray for her and her husband as well. I am saddened by all these losses but I like to think that Rachel has made friends with Amy's little Isaac and Leanna, and that they are all playing together in heaven.

Just a quick update on our visit last night. Isaac's infection blood test came back at 0.1! It finally went down a bit!! He was on 2 different types of anti-biotics before so now they have him down to one type of anti-biotic. The doctor said they may be able to stop giving him anti-biotics on Friday.

Isaac was still doing well on the conventional ventilator. I spoke with the doctor a bit more about when Isaac's PDA surgery will be (unfortunately, his PDA has not changed) and the doctor said that it would be much better for Isaac to go under general anesthesia if he is on conventional ventilation instead of high frequency ventilation so its really good that he is doing well on conventional ventilation. However, they would still like to lower the percentage of the oxygen they are pumping in through the conventional ventilation before they conduct the surgery. Isaac is currently getting 35% oxygen through his ventilator (the air we breathe usually contains 21% oxygen). So the goal is no infection, weight of 1.2 to 1.5 grams and good breathing on conventional ventilator with a lower oxygen percentage before his PDA surgery. Of course if there are problems with his heart or blood pressure, they would operate earlier.

Take care,

Sonia
