So I get this call tonight and the nurse is planning to come next Tuesday!!!! I am still clueless as I don't know what she does when she visits and how often she will be coming but it sounds like its more than a month and at the very least, Isaac will be monitored more carefully for sickness and his breathing - which I think means that he will be able to get off of supplemental oxygen sooner!
Some of you may remember that when we were looking for a new hospital for Isaac's post discharge care, we wanted to go to Red Cross Hospital but Isaac was inexplicably rejected by Red Cross. We then had to hustle and tried to get into St. Luke's basically because we know its more international and its a Christian hospital. At that time, we just wanted to get into St. Luke's and had not done any real research. We ended up with a pediatrician for Isaac who is also a Neonatologist and is apparently famous in his field and now this home nurse visit program which sounds very promising!!! I guess God really does know what He is doing!!! Praise God!
Isaac had a couple of his good old friends visit today - his primary nurse in NICU Ayako-san and Ueno-san, another NICU nurse who took care of Isaac. It was really great seeing them again and I think they were very happy to see Isaac as well.
Here are some pictures from today.
Ueno-san is on the left and Ayako-san is on the right:
Me, Ayako-san and Isaac:
A close up of Isaac so you can see his new nasal cannular. Its actually not a real nasal cannular. Dr. Kusakawa used a nasal feeding tube to act as a nasal cannular.
Because Isaac was breathing really well tonight and I had to retape his nasal cannular to the other side of his face, I took it off during his bath. Here is a cute picture of him in his chicken towel after his bath. He looks a LOT cuter in this towel in person!
God bless,Sonia

What a handsome boy Isaac is and way too cute in his towel. Such good news about the visiting nurse. Maybe she will be able to help you with the developmental stimulation too. How nice of the nurses to visit-they must have been very attached and that's special. So thankful that things are going so well. Continues prayers for perfect health for all of you. Rowena
Sonia, oh...my heart just wants to leap with joy and I am crying real tears. Your beautiful baby Isaac. How I have prayed for Him. I am in awe. Thank you God for taking care of him, for keeping him here with us so we can be blessed by his love. I will always remember Rachel. I know you miss her more every day. I just want you to know that though you haven't really 'met me' nor saw me often online, I have thought about you and Jong so much throughout this whole heartache of losing a child and living and fighting to see the other one live and grow healthy. Can I put a link to your blog from mine? In Jesus,
Miriam (fellow HPer...just haven't been there in a while)
Sonia...I finally found Isaac again. I followed his journey until June when I was hospitalized to give birth to my premature twins. Isaac's story always gave me hope and I thank him for that. He is such a fighter and such a cute baby. God bless him always.

Isaac looks so mature without anything on his face!! Sagan had nurse visit every couple of days and she would check his weight, his pulse ox, his tone, etc. That's what you should expect. The weight thing is a big deal, since they want to see that he is gaining weight. She will ask you about his eating habits, etc. I am glad to hear that the nurse will be coming more often, since he needs to be seen more often than once a month at this stage. I think it is awesome that his nurses visited him!!!
Give him kisses from me!!
Hugs,
Susan
by the way, I love the look on Isaac's face in the first photo!!! Like he can't believe his luck!

Issac looks great! So cute! We had a nurse visit every week when the boys got out of the NICU and she did weight checks and kind of just checked in to see that the boys were doing okay every week. She was a great resource for advice and help. I still talk to her. You and Jong look like you are doing a great job!
It's a DUCK towel, not a chicken!
I'm glad he's doing well~
